Chukotka gold output falls 25% to 3.7 tns in January–March

ANADYR, Apr 14 (PRIME) -- Gold production on Russia’s Chukotka peninsula decreased by 24.63% on the year to 3.731 tonnes in January–March, a representative of the industrial policy department of the Chukotka Autonomous Region’s government told PRIME on Friday.

Production of silver grew by 3.1% to 25.521 tonnes.

Production of Highland Gold Mining’s (HGM) Chukotka Mining and Geological Company fell by 25.7% to 1.589 tonnes of gold and by 1.6% to 21.261 tonnes of silver. The output of HGM's another unit Severnoye Zoloto decreased by 24.6% to 405.3 kilograms of gold, and more than doubled to 2.211 tonnes of silver.

Production of Valunisty Mine of HGM gained 5.7% to 178.22 kilograms of gold, but its silver output fell 11.9% to 1.812 tonnes. The Kekura field's output increased by 26.1% to 889.72 kilograms gold and 44.7% to 203.2 kilograms of silver.

Output of gold concentrate at the Maiskoye deposit, developed by Polymetal’s unit, plunged by 68% to 372.78 kilograms.

Gold production of Rudnik Karalveyem, owned by Israeli businessman Lev Levayev, grew by 23% to 315.66 kilograms, and silver production shrank by 6.86 kilograms to 33.51 kilograms.
